BEACHES

Sunbeach Holiday Village is just a short walk (.3 miles) to the California Beach with it's famous 'Golden Mile' which features 15 miles of golden sand beach along a stunning North Sea Coastline leading down to the Great Yarmouth Beach (approx. 3-4 mi), which offers North, Central, and South beaches, ranging from bustling to quiet.

California Beach, features a quiet, sandy beach situated beneath low cliffs, perfect for scenic walks. It is immediately adjacent to several popular coastal spots, including Scratby and Hemsby, making it a great base for exploring the coast. 

  • Scratby Beach (0.5 mi): A sandy beach ideal for surfing with two peaks.
  • Hemsby Beach (1.5 mi): A livelier village resort with cafes and attractions.
  • Caister-on-Sea Beach (1.5 mi): Features extensive golden sand dunes.
  • Winterton-on-Sea Beach (2.9 mi): Known for its sandy beach and seal spotting.
  • Gorleston-on-Sea Beach (4.5 mi): A large, sandy, and clean bay perfect for swimming and walking.


SUNBEACH HOLIDAY PARK

Dutchy's Tavern is located on the Sunbeach Holiday Park a short stroll from the chalet.

The Tavern features cash Bingo on a Friday along with nightly live entertainment. Pub style burger + chips 'baskets' are also available.


CALIFORNIA SANDS HOLIDAY PARK

California Sands Holiday Park shares a boundary with Sunbeach and all amenities at this site are available to you when you stay at NoMi Seaside Escapes.

You will have free access to the Oasis Pool with included key fob. This allows all our guests to swim daily for free along with use of the Oasis Gym. Also included with your key fob is a 20% discount on Dino cart and Crazy golf, along with a 10% discount off food from the Oasis Cafe. This benefit extends to all paying guests at our chalet.

The Club Oasis has live entertainment, a fully licensed bar along with a full restaurant menu.

The California Store has a wide variety of groceries + spirits/wine/beer, while the Codfather fry's up some of the best fish-n-chips around.


BOAT TRIPS

The Norfolk Broads: Located on the edge of Britain's newest National Park, providing easy access to boating, canoeing, and tranquil nature walks in the unique wetland landscape. Explore its 125 miles of lock-free waterways by renting a day boat, cruiser, or canoe to access secluded spots, nature trails, and riverside pubs. Key activities include visiting historic windmills like Horsey Windpump, fishing, and birdwatching, best enjoyed at a slow pace.


CYCLING

California, Norfolk, is perfectly placed for exploring the coastal paths and quiet country lanes of the Norfolk Broads. Here are a few recommended cycle routes in and around the area:

  • Horsey Windpump and Café – Waxham Beach loop (approx. 18.5 miles): An easy, popular route starting near Winterton-on-Sea that takes in the coast and the Broads.
  • Caister-on-Sea to Hoveton and the Norfolk Broads Loop (approx. 49 miles): A moderate, longer loop for exploring the heart of the Norfolk Broads.
  • Caister/Hemsby to Horsey Gap Coast Ride (approx. 23.6 miles): A flat, scenic coastal route heading north, perfect for spotting seals at Horsey Gap.
  • Hickling Route (5.5 miles): Ideal for families, this short, easy ride takes you past the Norfolk Wildlife Trust nature reserve and historic mills.

  • Rich Maritime History: Visitors can explore the Time & Tide Museum and wander the medieval "Rows"—narrow lanes characteristic of the town’s fishing past—along with the second most complete medieval town wall in England.
  • Family Entertainment: Includes Joyland for children, SEA LIFE Centre, adventure golf, and the Merrivale Model Village.
  • Events & Festivals: The town hosts the annual Out There Festival (street arts and circus), summer fireworks displays, and the Wheels Festival in June.
